Norbert Oberzaucher was born i Austrin in 1912 (uknown exact date) he volonteered to the SS as early as in 1933 in the (soon illigal) SS-Östereichische Legion. As many others of the Austrian SS did Norbert leave Austria when the times for them being difficult because of the Austrian Ban of the NSDAP and their party organisations (SA, SS etc) he became part of the SS-Hilfswerke located at SS-Standort Dachau.
In 1935, he was transfered to the 8 Company of SS-Rgt. Deutschland (in München) After that Austria was incorporated into the German Reich (Anschluss) was Norbert oncve again transfere, this time to the 4 Komp. of the SS-Rgt.3 (soon to become SS-Rgt. "Der Führer". but not many months later was Norbert transfered to the 8 Kp of the same Regiment, and that would become his "home" until the end of the war. He ended the war as Spiess (Stabsscharführer) of the 8 Kp. Also known as "Mutter der Kompanie"

Said about Norbert Oberzaucher of some of his former friend in SS and in HIAG - Norbert was a figure of symbol for the "Unterführerkorps", wich was the core of the regiment. Norbert Oberzaucher died during the Veteranmeeting at Ulrichsberg which wa held the first weekend in Oktober every year. Just two days before his death he held an speech for his comrades and others.
Norbert Oberzaucher was buried on October 8, 1976 in Judenburg. (The same cemetary as SS-Ostubaf Hans Dorr)
