An important tool in our work to index all officers in the SS / Waffen-SS is, of course, the Bundesarchiv and the SS personnel files (SS-Personalakten) preserved there.
As we have written to many: Keep in mind, however, that this is not a complete archive of all officers, as many who were killed in action or died had their files removed. This applies primarily to the first three years of the war. In addition, a number of officers' personnel files are to be found among the SSEM files.
This should be kept in mind when looking at this list. Hence our extensive work going through all the RuSHA files, which most of the officers possessed; however, even there we have discovered that a number of these officers also lack a RuSHA file, making it extremely difficult to obtain further information about them.
