Martin melzer was born on November 16, 1901 in Echelsheim, he studied to become a locksmith, but in 1919 he joined the Reichwehr in wich he would stay until 1931.

SS-Hstuf Martin Melzer joined the SS in October 1933, he was first attached to the 63.SS-Standarte in Tübingen. The time between 1933 and 1940 is unknown to me, but in the SS-DAL of 1937 he is still attached to the 63.SS-Sta.

In 1940 he was transfered to the 9.SS-T.-Standarte in Brno.  But he was soon moved from there and become Company commander of the  1.Wachkompanie in KL Neuengamme.. (1./SS-T.-Stuba KL Neuengamme).
Later it´s registred that he also had the capacity as Btl. Commander in KL Dachau, but when and wich battalion is unknown. But in 1943 he was transferred to KL Lublun-Majdanek in wich he was in charge of the 1.SS-T.-Stuba. KL Lublin-Majdanek, during the time of the camps dissolving he also was deputy in charge of the Camp.

SS-Hauptsturmführer Martin Melzer became missing in action at the time of the liberation of the camp in july 1944.
