Info about / Infos zu Wenn alle Bruder Schweigen blogg

I have noticed a lot of traffic over the last year. Obviously has many people found my Blogg about the Officers of the SS interesting. But I also thought that it would help me in the progress of search of officers. I have seen that people have searched on my blogg of a more abscure officer (more unknwon low rank officers) wich make me believe that it´s a relative or close friend who maybe wanted to know more. But still NO on beside a very few have given me any help in my work, wich I also feel a little bit sad about.

But enough of complaints. I decided that I will stop publish more info about the officers of the SS / Waffen-SS and in particulare those who went missing during the war or in POW camps. The reason is seen above.

But I will atleast thank you all who have read my blogg during the two years of existance. I will keep all the records online for a few weeks, but soon I will remove all content, so those who want the info you have print it or save it in some way.

If you want to reach me, you can do it on georg68schwab@gmail.com

Some thoughts

When I am reserching the SS officers and use the Waffen-SS Führerliste from NARA, one thing strucks me. What I really think is how poor that list is, it shows only brief story as an Officer of the Waffen-SS. As an example I just finished the SS-Standartenführer Walter Harzer (RK Holder) in the Waffen-SS Führerliste it shows 4 assignments during the war, starting with SS-Rgt Deutschland in 1941 and ends with 4.SS-Polizei Division in 1945. Well he served there, that´s is a fact. But the truth is that he signed up to the SS in 1931 (13.SS-Stand) and came to the SS-Stand. Deutschland in 1934.
I also think it´s a pity that the list doesn´t show if the Officer was a member of the NSDAP, which I think show some more about the person.

It´s a pity that the US officer who compiled the Führerliste of the Waffen-SS for NARA didn´t looked more into the files he had in his possesion.

When you look at the final version of Walter Harzer wich I created you can see wich SS-Junkerschule he attended, And also that he one year after ending the SS-Junkerschule he got demoted to SS-Unterscharführer (Officer in the SD Hauptamt) almost one year later his rank to SS-Untersturmführer was restored.

what do you think?

Best regards
Georg

One source claims that when Kaiser got captured by the Americans,  he refused tió give up his Ritterkreuz to one american soldier, as the US soldier shot him to get it.
One source that claims that Kaiser made the fate as a POW in the hands of US Forces, is that as late as in 1965 when authorities tried to find the body of Vinzenz Kaiser the bode of his Adjutant was found - SS-Hauptsturmführer Franz Kukula who was evidentily shot in the back of his head. The body was found in a massgrave with a lot of soldiers of the 17.SS-Pz.Gr.Div. "GvB" (supposed to been murdered by the US Rainbow Division) if Kaisers body was in that massgrave is impossible to know as Kukula was the only one to be identified. Most probably is the decorations and even Kaisers soldbuch today in a hand of an US Militaria collector or the family of the man who murdered Vinzenz Kaiser.

I am working on the lists at the moment for Letter A, B and E. For the allready published lists will I make an huge update very soon. The Excelfile are very huge Letter A is at the moment 150 pages, Letter E is 142 pages and Letter B is 425 pages thick.

I wished I could publish it all at once but the software of Bloggger denies me to publish it at once.

He also told me that there was now food geiven and when they arrived there was long grass in and around the camp. But soon all grass was gone as the SS-Men ate the grass to survive. As many of you have seen, I ´t been able to ad the photos of the ones listed in the SS-Führerliste. The software doesn´t allow me to ad the photos as I copy them from the Excel file. I am terrible sorry that I have to split up the list in several pages. Once again the software of Blogger doesn´t allow me to ad such a huge file. The one listed in B is alone 382 pages long. And it´s still growing.

If anyone is looking for a particulare info, such as where I got the info etc. send me an email to georg68schwab(a)gmail.com

SS-Obersturmbannführer Dr Ludwig Ehrsam - Vermisst (später Erklärt)

SS-Ostubaf Dr Ludwig Ehrsam is a officer that gives a lot of emotions. He started his active carreer in SS as an Doctor in the Concentration camps. He joined the SS in 1931, but in 1936 he is listed in the SS-Sanitäts Sturm of the KL Dachau, pherhaps went he through basic traning there. The same year he was transfered to the KL Lichtenburg, and acted as its Doctor (Lager Arzt). He served in KL Lichtenburg only for a short time, as he soon was once again transfered to the newly established  KL Sachsenhausen, he remained at KL Sachsenhausen to 1937 as he once again for a short was transfered to KL Lichtenburg, after KL Lichtenburg he was transfered to the new Concentrationcamp outside Weimar, KL Buchenwald, still as its Lagerarzt. But soon he once again back to KL Sachsenhausen and as its Lagerarzt. This time he would be there until the outbrake of WWII.
Wich meant that he would leave the KL system and act as doctor for fighting units of the Waffen-SS.

At first he was in the SS-Totenkopf Division, in wich he would serve until 1944, and when the war ended he was Korps doctor of the IV SS_Pz,Korps.

He was listed as Missed in action after the war, but later it was revieled that he had been prosecuted and hanged by the Soviets just after the war. Not for his service in the KL system but as an active officer of the SS-Totenkopf Division, a unit wich the Soviets had a bad eye for.

Dr Ludwig Ehrsam had a reputation as being harsh and his nickname was "Grausam". He is one of the officers I study because of his service in the KL Sachsenhausen.

Born 31.71910 in Meiningen
Hanged 20.3.1947 in Berlin

SS-Nr. 19729

SS-Sturmbannführer Dr. Karl-Heinz Knapp Vermisst 1945

One of the officer I am researching is the SS-Sturmbannführer Karl Heinz Knapp, the reason why I research him is as that he served in the KL Sachsenhausen which is my main subjet of Interesst.
What I have understood is that he was later in the war highly appriciated as Officer and Doctor, Unfortunately I don´t know much about him from his time in KL Sachsenhausen. But hopefully I will publish my book about men from the KL Sachsenhausen and there you will read more about him.

SS-Untersturmführer Rudolf "Rudi" Bal Vermisst 1945

Here is an officer who entered the Waffen-SS in 1943. Shortly after his service started another Officer had seen hi spotential as an Officer and he was sent to SS-Junkerschule BAd Tölz and completed the 11.Kriegslehrgang there. It ended in 1944 and shortly after was Rudolf promoted to SS-Untersturmführer (21.6.1944). As Rudolf was from Belgium he didn´t get an SS-Number which was exclusivly for Reich- or Volksdeutsche.

He became missing in Action in January 1945, not known eactly where, but he was at the time Company commander of the 3./SS-Frw.Gren.Rgt.70 of the SS-Div. "Wallonie"

He was born April 30, 1911 in Borgerhout. Even if his ad at Deutsche Rote Kreuz shows that he was born in Brüssels. His SS-Personalfile from SS-Personal Führungshauptamt gives a littlebit more information.

MIA Officers of SS-Pz.Grenadier Ausbildungs u Ersatz Abt. 2

Those officer became MIA attached to the SS-Pz.Gr.AuE.Abt 2, among them we also find SS-Ostuf Siebert, see SS-Pz.Gr.Rgt. "Der Führer". It isn´t uncommon to find officers and soldiers in more than one unit as their relatives or friends not was sure in which unit they served in.
